The Fish Cottage is one of Yorkshire’s busiest independent seafood restaurants, serving exceptional fish and seafood from our restaurant and takeaway in the beautiful coastal village of Sandsend.
We’re looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our ambitious kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with fresh, high-quality ingredients in a fast-paced environment where standards matter and hard work is recognised.
Working alongside our Head Chef, you’ll help lead a talented team, maintain exceptional food quality and play an important role in the continued growth of the business.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Leading busy services with confidence and professionalism
- Producing consistently outstanding food
- Coaching and developing junior chefs
- Maintaining exceptional food safety and hygiene standards
- Assisting with stock control and minimising waste
- Helping develop seasonal specials and menu ideas
- Creating a positive, organised and professional kitchen culture
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Junior Sous ready for promotion
- Experience working in a busy fresh-food kitchen
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Calm under pressure with strong organisational ability
- High standards and great attention to detail
- Passion for fresh ingredients and quality food
