2gether Support Solutions is a Facilities and Estates services company providing support to healthcare professionals caring for over 2000 patients daily across multiple East Kent hospital sites. 2gether provides vital services including maintenance, cleaning, catering, procurement, logistics and much more.
We are seeking an experienced, proactive and people-focused Facilities Services Manager to join the team at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. This is a key operational role, with day-to-day responsibility for a range of essential facilities services including Portering, Waste, Post Room, Reception and Security services on site.
You will lead a large team of staff and Team Leaders delivering services across a 24/7 hospital environment, ensuring patients, materials and equipment are safely and appropriately transferred around the hospital, while maintaining high standards of customer service, operational performance and regulatory compliance.
As a visible and hands-on manager, you will provide strong leadership, manage customer expectations and ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely and consistently. You will work closely with senior Trust colleagues and external stakeholders, using performance information and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure agreed service levels and KPIs are achieved.
This is a full-time, permanent position based at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford. Working hours are Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm, with flexibility required to meet the needs of a 24/7 service, including occasional nights and weekends. The postholder will also participate in the senior management out-of-hours on-call rota.

Provide day-to-day operational leadership for Portering, Waste, Post Room, Reception, Security services, ensuring safe, effective and customer-focused service delivery.

Lead and manage a large team of staff and Team Leaders, including recruitment, induction, training, appraisal, attendance, performance management, development and first-line disciplinary processes.

Ensure patients, materials and equipment are transferred safely and appropriately around the hospital, in accordance with Trust standards, relevant legislation and agreed service requirements.

Monitor operational performance and key performance indicators, producing regular reports on service volumes, performance and service levels, and escalating failures or risks where required.

Act as a key point of contact for customers, senior Trust managers and external stakeholders, responding to service issues, managing expectations and maintaining positive working relationships.

Investigate complaints and service failures, implement appropriate corrective action and monitor improvements through to completion.

Establish, review and maintain policies, procedures and working practices across areas of responsibility, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Trust requirements and national guidance.

Maintain high standards of health and safety, including compliance with Health and Safety at Work requirements, manual handling arrangements and other relevant risk controls.

Support the Head of Facilities Solutions with annual budget planning, expenditure management and contingency planning, identifying and addressing potential overspends.

Maintain effective control of departmental income and expenditure and ensure resources are deployed efficiently.

Act as Deputy for the Head of Facilities Solutions when required, providing senior operational leadership across the service.

Proven experience of managing a large, complex operational service, ideally within a healthcare, facilities, logistics or customer-focused environment.

Strong people management and leadership skills, with experience managing Team Leaders and multidisciplinary teams.

Experience of managing recruitment, induction, training, appraisal, attendance, performance and employee relations processes.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with staff, senior managers, customers and external stakeholders.

Experience of monitoring KPIs, analysing performance data and developing and implementing service improvement plans.

Strong understanding of health and safety requirements and the ability to ensure compliance across a busy operational environment.

Ability to prioritise competing demands, make effective decisions and remain calm and professional when working under pressure.

Ability to develop, review and implement policies, procedures and working practices.
