Solar Operations & Administration Manager
Install Solar Panels Limited – Chorley, Lancashire
Salary: £34,000–£38,000 per year (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday to Friday
About the Role
Install Solar Panels Limited is looking for a capable and highly organised Solar Operations & Administration Manager to take real ownership of the day-to-day administration and operational progress of our solar PV and battery storage installations.
This is not a basic administration role.
You will manage multiple installations and applications at different stages, communicate confidently with customers, installers and Distribution Network Operators, and ensure every job moves forward accurately and efficiently. You will work independently, prioritise your own workload, and take responsibility for progressing jobs rather than waiting to be told what to do next.
Previous experience in solar PV, battery storage, electrical contracting or the renewable energy industry is a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
DNO / G98 / G99 Applications
Prepare, submit and manage G98 and G99 applications for solar PV and battery storage installations
Review customer, property and system information before submission
Liaise directly with Distribution Network Operators regarding applications, approvals, amendments and outstanding information
Proactively chase overdue applications and maintain accurate status records
Work with surveyors, electricians, designers and installers to obtain required technical information
MCS & Post-Installation Administration
Complete MCS registrations following installation
Produce and issue MCS certificates and customer documentation
Check installation files for photographs, commissioning data, electrical documentation, serial numbers and system details
Prepare post-installation welcome packs and ensure customers receive the correct system documentation
Assist customers with Smart Export Guarantee documentation where required
Maintain accurate digital customer and installation records
Installation Process Management
Manage the administrative progress of installations from acceptance through to completion
Identify missing information, outstanding actions or potential delays
Coordinate with sales, surveyors, installers, electricians and management
Maintain job-management systems, calendars, trackers and customer records
Assist with scheduling surveys, installations and other appointments
Ensure completed work moves promptly through certification, DNO notification and final documentation
Quotations & Customer Applications
Prepare customer quotations using survey information, system specifications and company pricing tools
Produce straightforward and moderately complex solar PV and battery storage quotations
Screen new enquiries and request missing information from customers
Update customer records and quotation information accurately
Customer Service & General Administration
Answer telephone calls and respond to customer emails professionally
Provide clear updates on surveys, installations, DNO applications and documentation
Handle routine customer issues and escalate technical matters when necessary
Maintain accurate CRM and internal system records
Support general office administration and assist management with operational tasks
What We’re Looking For
Strong administration and organisational experience
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confidence speaking to customers by telephone and email
Ability to manage a high volume of jobs and outstanding actions simultaneously
Good computer skills and confidence learning new online systems and portals
Experience using CRM systems, spreadsheets and online administration platforms
Ability to prioritise work without constant supervision
A proactive approach to chasing information and resolving problems
Solar Industry Experience (Highly Desirable)
Experience in any of the following would be a major advantage:
G98 and G99 applications
Distribution Network Operator portals (including ENA Connect Direct)
MCS registrations and certificate production
Solar PV and battery storage installation paperwork
Electrical certification and documentation
Export limitation / G100 arrangements
Smart Export Guarantee documentation
Solar quoting or design software
We will also consider exceptional administration or operations candidates who can demonstrate the ability to learn technical processes quickly.
The Person
This role suits someone who enjoys being the person who keeps everything organised and moving. You will have multiple installations, applications, customer queries and deadlines running at the same time and need to quickly identify what requires attention.
You notice when an approval hasn’t arrived, a document is missing or a customer hasn’t received something — and you deal with it. Accuracy is essential, but so is the ability to get things completed. You should be comfortable picking up the telephone to speak to customers, DNOs, installers and other organisations rather than relying solely on email.
As you become familiar with our systems, we expect you to take increasing ownership of the operational administration of the business.
What We Offer
Competitive salary of £34,000–£38,000 depending on experience and relevant solar industry knowledge
Permanent full-time employment
Monday to Friday working hours
Company pension
Full training on our internal systems and processes
The opportunity to develop genuine knowledge of solar PV, battery storage and the wider renewable energy industry
A varied role where you can have a real impact on how efficiently projects are delivered
How to Apply
Previous administration, office management or operations experience is essential. Direct experience with G98/G99 applications and MCS registrations is particularly welcome.
Please apply with your CV and a short explanation of any relevant solar, renewable energy, DNO, MCS, electrical or operations experience.
