We are a family‑run business seeking a dedicated Broiler Farm Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day operation of our broiler unit. This is a hands‑on management role requiring excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to animal welfare. Previous livestock experience is desirable but not essential, and full training will be provided.
This is a live‑on position, with a four‑bedroom onsite farmhouse included as part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of broiler production from chick placement through to depopulation
- Maintain high standards of bird welfare, health, and environmental control
- Oversee daily routines including feeding, ventilation, lighting, and water systems
- Monitor flock performance, weights, mortality, and environmental readings
- Uphold strict biosecurity protocols across all broiler houses
- Ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard
- Liaise with vets, nutritionists, and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with Red Tractor, DEFRA, and farm assurance requirements
- Maintain accurate records, flock sheets, and production data
- Manage ordering of feed, bedding, and essential supplies
- Prepare broiler houses correctly for chick placement and turnaround
Requirements
- Livestock experience desirable but not essential
- Hardworking, self‑motivated, and reliable, with a willingness to learn
- Strong communication, planning, and problem‑solving skills
- Good data management and record‑keeping ability
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work weekends on a rota system
- Commitment to high animal welfare standards
- 24 hour alarm cover on a rota system
