Job Title: Transport Manager (SOC 2020: 1241)
Overview
We are seeking a reliable and organised Transport Manager to oversee our transport operations, supporting the safe and efficient movement of passengers and resources across our organisation's activities in passenger transport, property management, cleaning services, and residential care. The successful candidate will ensure our vehicle fleet operates safely, legally, and efficiently, while supporting day-to-day logistics across our sites.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the vehicle fleet, including scheduling, maintenance, and driver allocation.
- Ensure all vehicles and drivers comply with relevant transport, health and safety, and licensing regulations.
- Plan and coordinate transport routes to support passenger transport, staff movement between sites, and delivery of supplies (e.g. cleaning materials, care equipment).
- Supervise drivers and transport staff, ensuring rotas are met and service standards are maintained.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, driver hours, incidents, and compliance documentation.
- Liaise with site managers (residential care homes, rental properties, cleaning contracts) to coordinate transport needs.
- Monitor transport costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce expenditure.
Experience/Requirements
- Experience supervising transport or fleet operations, ideally within a multi-site organisation.
- Knowledge of vehicle compliance, driver hours regulations, and health & safety standards.
- Good organisational and communication skills to coordinate across different business areas.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Transport Management is an advantage but not essential (can be supported/obtained on the job if required for sponsorship purposes).
