ByWater Services and System Chassisjet are looking for a commercially-minded Financial Controller to build and lead the finance function across a growing group in the water treatment and washdown equipment sector. This is a genuine opportunity to shape how a well-run, technically strong business reports on and manages its performance, working directly with an engaged Managing Director.
You'll be joining a business with a strong mix of recurring maintenance revenue and equipment sales, real technical advantages in its niche, and systems that already capture good operational detail. What's missing is someone to pull that together into clear, forward-looking management information — and to help build the finance function as the group continues to grow, including through acquisition.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, with 1 direct report, you'll take ownership of management accounts, cash flow forecasting and job costing across ByWater and System Chassisjet, with real scope to grow into a group finance role as the business expands.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own monthly management accounts and reporting for ByWater and System Chassisjet
- Build out clear, department-level margin and performance reporting
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital visibility
- Own job and WIP costing to ensure accurate cost visibility
- Play an active role in an ongoing systems migration, shaping how the business captures and reports data
- Oversee stock valuation and control
- Manage payroll oversight and compliance for around 30 staff
- Help build consistent reporting as the group grows, including through acquisition
What We're Looking For
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or finalist close to completion
- Comfortable building financial reporting from a limited base, largely unaided
- Practical, hands-on and commercially minded
- Experience with ERP or job management systems
- CIS experience, multi-entity reporting, or SME experience useful but not essential
This is a genuine opportunity to join a strong SME group at an exciting stage of growth, with real influence over how the finance function is built.
