Scope of the Role:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Warehouse team as a Warehouse Operative. Reporting to the Warehouse Team Leader, the Warehouse Operative is responsible for supporting the day to day operation of the warehouse, ensuring goods are received, stored, picked, packed and dispatched accurately and efficiently. The role plays an important part in maintaining stock accuracy, operational standards and the safe movement of goods throughout the warehouse.
Working as part of the wider warehouse team, the Warehouse Operative will support inbound and outbound activities, including goods receipt, order fulfilment, stock handling, loading and unloading, and general warehouse duties. The role requires a flexible and proactive approach, with a focus on safety, quality, accuracy and achieving daily operational requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support all areas of warehouse operations, working flexibly across inbound, outbound, picking, packing, goods in, despatch and general warehouse activities as required.
- Receive, unload and check incoming deliveries, ensuring goods are handled safely and accurately.
- Load and secure goods for dispatch, ensuring orders are prepared correctly and meet required standards.
- Pick, pack, wrap, label and prepare customer orders accurately in line with operational requirements.
- Support container unloading, including manual handling of stock and products where required.
- Put away received stock accurately, ensuring goods are stored safely and efficiently within designated warehouse locations.
- Carry out stock checks, inventory counts and report any stock discrepancies or issues to the relevant team member.
- Use warehouse systems and equipment to complete stock movements and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and in line with company procedures and relevant training requirements.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring work areas are clean, safe and organised at all times.
- Report damaged goods, equipment issues, safety concerns or operational problems promptly.
- Follow all company policies, procedures and quality standards, including Health & Safety, ISO and AEO requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support the wider warehouse team to achieve daily operational targets.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting changing priorities, peak periods and additional warehouse activities as required.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Previous warehouse, logistics or distribution experience would be advantageous.
- Flexible approach with the ability to work across all warehouse functions including goods-in, picking, packing, loading and dispatch.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when handling stock and completing tasks.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow processes, procedures and instructions.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet operational deadlines.
- Capable of undertaking manual handling activities, including loading, unloading and container handballing.
- Experience using warehouse systems (WMS) would be advantageous.
- Warehouse equipment licences would be advantageous, including Counterbalance, Articulated/Reach Truck, Order Picker and Powered Pallet Truck.
- Positive, reliable and flexible attitude with a willingness to support wider warehouse activities.
