Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, warm, enthusiastic and reliable Deputy Nursery Manager to join our friendly team at Smarty Pants @ Lye Ltd.
This is a 35-hour per week, term-time only position, meaning you will work during school term time and enjoy all school holidays off, offering an excellent work-life balance.
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Nursery Manager and Directors to help lead our dedicated team, ensuring the highest standards of care, education and safeguarding are maintained across the nursery.

Job Duties
- Support the day-to-day management of the nursery alongside the Nursery Manager.
- Lead, motivate and support the staff team to deliver outstanding care and education.
- Ensure high standards of practice are maintained in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Act as a role model, providing guidance and coaching to practitioners.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues.
- Support children’s learning, development and wellbeing through high-quality interactions.
- Complete observations, assessments and nursery records as required.
- Help monitor children’s progress and support staff with planning and assessment.
- Ensure the nursery provides a safe, clean, stimulating and inclusive environment.
- Support with staff inductions, mentoring and training where required.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and nursery policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- Take responsibility for the nursery in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
What We’re Looking For
- A recognised Level 3 (or above) Early Years qualification is essential.
- Please do not apply if you do not hold a recognised Level 3 or above Early Years qualification, as we are unable to consider applications without this.
- Previous experience working within an early years setting.
- Previous leadership or senior practitioner or deputy manager experience is desirable.
- A genuine passion for working with young children.
- A caring, nurturing and enthusiastic approach.
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- A positive, reliable and flexible team player.
- Good knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards and supporting continuous improvement.

Pay: £13.70-£14.00 per hour
