Community & Educational Development Officer
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate of Pay: To be discussed
Term of Employment: Fixed Term Post until 31 March 2027
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to engage with schools, community groups, local organisations, and key partner agencies to promote the principles of the circular economy - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover. The successful candidate will deliver environmental education and awareness activities that increase understanding of recycling and sustainable resource management, encourage positive environmental behaviours, build strong community partnerships, and support initiatives that inspire lasting environmental change across the local community.
Main responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging workshops, presentations, and educational programmes on recycling and the circular economy within schools and community settings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with educational institutions, community groups, and local stakeholders.
- Promote awareness of the 4Rs and support initiatives that encourage waste reduction and sustainable practices.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to design and implement environmental campaigns and projects.
- Provide advice and guidance to communities and organisations on best practices in recycling and resource management.
- Support the development of educational materials, toolkits, and resources tailored to different audiences.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on the impact of programmes and initiatives.
- Attend community events, outreach activities, and networking opportunities to promote sustainability messages.
- Ensure all activities align with local and national environmental policies and targets.
Education and Experience
- 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English)
- Relevant experience.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and administration skills.
- An enthusiastic, ‘can do’ mindset.
- Willingness to provide outstanding service to service users.
- Full, clean driving license.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for community events
