We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and enthusiastic leader to take forward our Community Safety and Partnerships agenda and help deliver our vision of building safer, stronger and more inclusive communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary service responsible for community safety, anti-social behaviour, safeguarding, private sector housing, CCTV, partnership development, community engagement, commissioning and grant funding. The role will play a key part in delivering the Council's priorities through effective partnership working and community-led approaches.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for the development and delivery of the Community Safety Partnership Plan; the We Are Tamworth – Building Better Communities Strategy and a range of partnership initiatives designed to improve outcomes for residents across the borough. You will work closely with elected members, senior officers, Staffordshire Police, health partners, voluntary sector organisations and regional bodies to develop effective responses to local issues and emerging challenges.
You will have significant experience of leading community safety, housing, partnership, community development or related services at a senior level. You will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivering strategic outcomes through partnership working, managing complex budgets and commissioning services, influencing policy and driving service improvement.
The role requires an excellent understanding of community safety issues, anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, safeguarding, partnership governance and relevant legislation. Knowledge of housing enforcement, Renters' Rights legislation, Awaab's Law and wider regulatory functions would be advantageous.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and leadership skills who can inspire and motivate teams, build productive partnerships and represent the Council confidently at local, regional and national forums. You will be highly organised, politically aware and able to manage complex and sensitive issues whilst maintaining a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes for communities.
You will be responsible for the management of external and internal budgets, performance management arrangements and governance frameworks, ensuring statutory functions are delivered effectively and in accordance with legal requirements and Council policies.
The duties of this role include a requirement to take part in an on-call rota, approximately six times per year.
This is a home working contract, and the majority of duties will be carried out at home, however, employees will be contractually required to attend site on two days per month for team meetings, 121 meetings, etc. Employees may also be required to attend a site for meetings, collaborative work or to undertake work related activities. Site attendance will constitute no more than 40% of working time and includes the contractual 2 days per month.
