Street Lighting Operative
Contract: Cheshire East Highways
Location: Congleton

We are looking for a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join our team, supporting the delivery of high-quality maintenance across the Cheshire East highway network. Reporting to the Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in helping to provide a first-class service, ensuring all maintenance activities align with the strategies and policies of Cheshire East Highways and Cheshire East Council.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you'll be expected to uphold high standards within the team and engage with the public in a courteous and professional manner. You’ll help ensure that customers are well-informed and confident in the services and standards we provide.
The Role
· Carry out a variety of skilled tasks including the installation and repair of Street Lights, Illuminated Traffic Bollards and Illuminated Signs.
· Traffic Management Operations
· Providing instruction and mentor apprentices and trainees
· To assist with audits to ensure safety, quality and environmental standards are met.
· Driving/operating vehicles/plant requiring both general and specialist skills
· Ability to undertake activities associated with light goods vehicles to include MEWP vehicles
· Participation in Call Out/Stand by Rota Out of Hours for Emergency Work
· Other Ad Hoc duties to fulfil the requirement of the role
· An understanding of health and safety and its application to Street Lighting
About You
· A current valid driving licence
· NVQ Level 2 in electrical installation work – Public Light (or approved equivalent)
· Category C driving licence preferably with CPC entitlement or a drivers qualification card
· Hiab/Crane Certificate
· Previous Street Lighting or Highways experience
· Desirable: ECS Card
· Desirable: IPAF 1B MEWP
· Desirable: G39 Certificate
