Purpose of the Role: The Care Manager / Deputy Manager will work closely with the Registered Manager / Director to support the day-to-day operations and administration of MSEA Care Ltd. The role will have a strong operational focus, including rota management, scheduling and care coordination, staff and client administration, record keeping, and ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of care services. The postholder will also support the Registered Manager with day-to-day management, quality and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Care Delivery & Client Management

Support assessments and the onboarding of new clients.

Develop, implement and regularly review care plans and risk assessments.

Ensure care is delivered safely, consistently and in accordance with individual needs, preferences and agreed care plans.

Conduct client reviews and maintain effective communication with clients, families and representatives.
-
Respond appropriately to changes in clients' needs and ensure care arrangements and records are updated.

Support the safe management of medication and appropriate recording and escalation of medication concerns.

Identify, respond to and appropriately escalate safeguarding concerns, incidents and accidents.

Support the resolution of client and family concerns.
Staff Management

Provide day-to-day management guidance and support to care workers.

Participate in the recruitment, induction and onboarding of new staff.

Conduct or support staff supervisions, appraisals, competency assessments and spot checks.

Monitor staff performance, conduct and standards of care.
-
Identify training and development requirements and support staff in maintaining appropriate competence.

Promote a positive, supportive and accountable working culture.

Ensure staff understand and follow company policies, procedures and expected standards.
Quality, Compliance & Governance

Support the Registered Manager in maintaining compliance with CQC regulations and fundamental standards.

Undertake and support audits of care plans, care records, medication records, staff files and other areas of service quality.

Support safeguarding processes and ensure concerns are appropriately documented and escalated.

Assist with the investigation and management of complaints, incidents and concerns.

Help ensure records are accurate, complete, contemporaneous and appropriately maintained.

Contribute to quality assurance, governance and continuous improvement activities.

Support implementation and monitoring of company policies and procedures.

Assist the Registered Manager with preparation for CQC inspections and other regulatory or quality reviews.

Identify areas of concern or non-compliance and promptly escalate these to the Registered Manager.
Operational Management

Support the effective day-to-day running of the domiciliary care service.

Manage and maintain staff rotas and scheduling, ensuring safe staffing, appropriate deployment and continuity of care – including the use of digital care management systems.

Assist with managing new and changing care packages.

Respond appropriately to urgent operational issues and escalate significant matters to the Registered Manager.

Provide occasional on-call cover when required.

Maintain professional relationships with clients, families, carers, health and social care professionals and other stakeholders.

Provide practical operational support where necessary to maintain safe continuity of care.
Person Specification
Essential
The successful candidate should have:

Previous experience as a Senior Care Coordinator, Deputy Manager, Care Manager or similar – within a CQC registered domiciliary care business.

Meaningful operational experience within domiciliary care.

Experience supervising and managing care staff.

Strong understanding of person-centred care.
-
Good working knowledge of safeguarding, medication management, risk assessment and care planning.

An understanding of CQC requirements and the regulatory framework applicable to adult social care.

Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Confidence communicating professionally with clients, relatives, carers and external professionals.

Ability to make sound operational decisions and appropriately escalate matters requiring Registered Manager involvement.

Strong IT, administrative and record-keeping skills, including usage of digital care management systems.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work, with the ability and willingness to travel within the local service area as required.
