Care Home Chef – Preston Patrick, Milnthorpe, Cumbria, LA7
£14.00 per hour | Temporary with potential to become permanent
We are recruiting on behalf of a care home in Milnthorpe, Cumbria (LA7) for an experienced Care Home Chef to work approximately 16 hours weekly. This is a temporary position with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering high-quality food, able to work calmly under pressure, and comfortable working as part of a small kitchen team in a care home environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and stock kitchen stations with all required supplies
- Prepare and cook meals in line with menus, nutritional guidelines, and dietary requirements
- Cater for residents with specialist dietary needs, including allergies and modified diets
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily service
- Follow instructions and communicate effectively within the team
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and workstations, ensuring safe food storage and appropriate handling of leftovers
- Ensure meals are delivered to a high standard and in a timely manner
- Comply with food hygiene, health & safety, and care home regulations at all times
- Maintain a professional, caring, and positive approach when working within the care home setting
Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year’s relevant kitchen or chef experience
- Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, Care Home Chef, or similar role
- Good understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a busy environment
- A reliable, responsible, and professional attitude
- Experience within a care home, healthcare, or catering environment is desirable
- Right to work in the UK
