Overview
We are seeking a skilled Builder / handy person to join our maintenance / building company, part time 2-3 days a week.
Our base is TR4, Truro, but we cover Cornwall and split time between travelling around Cornwall jobbing and doing local building projects.
We have a varied role, covering a range of tasks (a few named below)
- Block laying
- Wet stone walling
- Rendering
- Building jobs
- Pressure washing
- Leak investigations
- Aco drain cleaning
- Bin store clearing
- Coping stone repairs
- Painting and decorating (small scale)
- Bin store repairs
- Fencing repairs
- Carpark line painting
- Building from demolition to finish
- Ability to plaster would be an advantage, but not a nessesity
The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set in construction and building trades, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards. This role requires hands-on experience and the ability to work independantly, whilst using your initiative - as well as collaboratively within a team.
The ability to be able to know what tools / sundries will be needed from verbal information or pictures and complete tasks independantly is required.
Responsibilities and relevent skills required
- Construct and assemble structures using hand tools and power tools
- Engage in masonry work for bricklaying and stone setting
- Conduct painting and finishing tasks
- Tasks as described in previous list
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following health and safety regulations
- Manage work flow (for own self, not a greater team)
- Manage diary to best utalise travel time
- Keep accurate records of work completed and materials used
Will require
- Full driving licence
- Experience
- References will be required
- Van required, preferably with tow ball and the ability to use trailers
The role is self employed as a subcontractor, with the ability to develop into employed.
