Are you an experienced Roofer looking to take your career into the fast-growing renewable energy sector? Or perhaps you're already experienced in solar installations and looking for your next challenge?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and rapidly growing renewable energy business delivering high-quality solar PV installations across Cumbria. Working on both domestic and commercial projects, you'll play a vital role in the roofing side of solar installations, ensuring every system is fitted safely, securely and to the highest standard.
Whether you're an experienced Solar Roofer or a traditional roofer keen to develop new skills, training and ongoing development opportunities are available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Install solar PV mounting systems and solar panels on pitched and flat roofs
- Carry out roofing work on slate, tiled and other common roofing systems
- Remove and replace tiles or slates where required
- Install roof hooks, brackets, rails and mounting equipment
- Ensure all roof penetrations and fixings are fully sealed and weatherproof
- Conduct roofing repairs where necessary
- Measure and set out solar panel arrays in line with installation plans
- Safely lift, position and secure solar panels
- Identify roofing issues before and during installations
- Work collaboratively with electricians and installation teams
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Follow RAMS, site procedures and health & safety standards
- Work safely at height using scaffolding and access equipment
- Maintain clean, organised and professional working environments
- Communicate professionally with customers on-site
- Travel throughout Cumbria using a company-provided van
Essential Requirements
- Previous roofing experience
- Experience working on slate and/or tiled roofs
- Confidence working safely at height
- Strong understanding of roof structures and weatherproofing techniques
- Experience using roofing, hand and power tools
- Excellent attention to detail
- Reliable with a positive team-focused attitude
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Previous solar PV installation experience
- Experience installing solar mounting systems
- CSCS Card
- Working at Height certification
- Manual Handling qualification
- PASMA or similar access qualifications
- Experience working on both domestic and commercial properties
