Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT professional to act as onsite lead, supporting your colleagues and maintaining the onsite infrastructure. This is a broad, hands-on role covering day-to-day IT support, network administration, cybersecurity and participation in IT improvement projects. You will have ownership of the local infrastructure but work closely with and receive training and support from our wider group IT function.
The role will also provide remote support for a sister company in the Netherlands, Alicat Scientific B.V, with occasional travel required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain on-premises infrastructure: servers, networking, backups, and security patching
- Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware
- Manage software installations, updates, and licensing compliance.
- Provide technical support to staff across office and production environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
- Maintain regular data backups and support disaster recovery procedures.
- Support cloud-based services such as Microsoft 365 and ensure secure access.
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures including antivirus, firewalls, and access controls.
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, asset registers, and user manuals.
- Implement cybersecurity policies as required.
- Liaise with external IT service providers and vendors as required.
- Provide basic IT training and guidance to staff to ensure effective use of systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an IT support or technician role.
- Experience utilising Active Directory
- Familiarity with networking protocols
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation and a proactive mindset.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Desirable
- Experience utilising Microsoft Intune and Coreview
- Experience or willingness to develop skills in administration and query of SQL databases.
- Experience with using and deploying modern AI tools and/or assisting colleagues with the same.
Pay: £34,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
