Job Overview
The Assistant Sites Manager is responsible and accountable to the Contract Manager for providing logistic and administrative support to Site Managers within a specified geographical Area of Responsibility (AoR). You will assist the Site Managers in delivering a customer-oriented, high-quality service that maximises productivity and profitability, and, through your Team Leaders, ensure outstanding service delivery to our clients and customers. This role is ideal for an individual eager to develop their career in landscaping management.
Main Responsibilities
- You will ensure all staff apply the highest standards of Health and Safety in the workplace and take effective measures to ensure compliance.
- You will understand the broader business strategy and drive all aspects of your operations towards achieving greater productivity and profitability in order to achieve that strategy.
- You will deliver leadership and management across your AoR and ensure that teams are delivering an outstanding service to our clients.
- You will ensure that Team Leaders and Operatives represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
- You will apply the principles of Planning-Quality-Performance (PQP) and ensure all within your AoR adopt these principles.
- You are to ensure that landscape teams foster and maintain friendly, respectful and mutually beneficial relationships with clients and customers and report or deal with issues swiftly in order to minimise damage to business relationships.
- You will assist Site Managers with worksheets before they are submitted to the Production Manager.
- You will liaise with clients to identify and resolve any issues, ensuring sites are ready for the carrier teams to commence works.
- You will assist the Site Managers to ensure that all works are completed to the client's specification and satisfaction and report any issues to your Contract Manager in a timely manner.
- You will assist the Site Managers in the monitoring of performance and ensure issues identified are reported quickly and efficiently to the Contract Manager.
- You will provide Quality Assurance by identifying issues early and taking necessary remedial action before the need to engage with Customer Care.
- Wherever possible, you will identify variation opportunities and exploit these.
- You will foster a culture of “Continual Improvement” by identifying inefficiencies develop appropriate measures in order to drive exceptional service delivery and maximise profitability.
- You will identify shortfalls in staff, materials and equipment in a timely manner and liaise with Site Managers to produce effective and timely solutions.
- You will liaise with the planning cell daily to ensure the most efficient use of materials, equipment and staff is achieved.
- You will help build relationships with Customer Site Managers to strengthen relationships, develop business opportunities and maximise profitability.
- You will assist your Site Managers to produce annual appraisals for their Team Leaders and report any discipline or welfare issues to your Contract Manager.
- Where necessary, in accordance with business needs, you will carry out landscaping tasks in order to support your teams and deliver critical business outputs.

Qualifications and experience
- NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in horticulture/landscaping (Desirable)
- Extensive experience as a landscaper (essential)
- SSSTS (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving license
- CSCS (Managers and Professional’s card)
