We are currently recruiting for a Security Officer to join our team at a busy site in Bicester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, professional and security-conscious individual looking for a long-term position within the security industry.
The role operates on a two-week rotating shift pattern, incorporating a mixture of day shifts, night shifts and weekend working. The rota provides 112 hours over each two-week period, averaging 56 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment, protecting the client's premises, staff, visitors and assets, and ensuring that all site security procedures are followed at all times.

Average Hours & Earnings
The rota provides:
- 112 hours over a two-week period
- Average of 56 hours per week
- Approximately 2,912 hours per year, based on the average weekly hours
- £13.39 per hour
- Approximately £749.84 gross per average week
- Approximately £38,991.68 gross per year, before tax, National Insurance and other deductions
There is also enhanced Bank Holiday pay, meaning actual earnings may be higher depending on the shifts worked and applicable enhanced rates.
Figures are based on the current two-week rota and basic hourly rate. Actual earnings may vary depending on Bank Holiday enhancements, overtime or any other applicable payments.
Key Responsibilities
As a Security Officer, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Conducting regular internal and external security patrols of the site.
- Locking and unlocking buildings in accordance with site procedures.
- Ensuring buildings, offices and other designated areas are secure.
- Monitoring CCTV systems and identifying and reporting suspicious activity.
- Controlling access and egress to the site.
- Checking identification, passes and authorisation where required.
- Managing visitors, contractors and deliveries in accordance with site procedures.
- Handling enquiries from staff, visitors, contractors and members of the public in a professional and helpful manner.
- Responding promptly to fire, intruder and other site alarms.
- Investigating and responding appropriately to security incidents.
- Recording and reporting incidents, accidents, suspicious activity and security concerns.
- Carrying out regular security and safety checks.
- Maintaining a highly visible and professional security presence.
- Challenging unauthorised individuals when appropriate.
- Dealing calmly and professionally with difficult or challenging situations.
- Following site emergency procedures and assisting with evacuations where required.
- Liaising with the client, emergency services and other relevant personnel when necessary.
- Completing accurate daily occurrence books, handover notes and incident reports.
- Reporting faults, hazards, damage or security vulnerabilities to the appropriate person.
- Ensuring security equipment and systems are operated correctly.
- Carrying out any other reasonable security-related duties required by the client or management team.

Previous security experience is desirable. Experience in a customer-facing, facilities, military, policing, retail, logistics or similar environment may also be advantageous.

Security Screening Requirements
Due to the nature of this position, all successful candidates will be required to complete security screening in accordance with BS 7858.
Applicants must be able to provide a five-year checkable employment and/or educational history.
Applicants must also be able to provide suitable evidence to account for any periods of unemployment or gaps within their history. This may include appropriate documentation or other evidence requested as part of the screening process.
Employment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of the required security screening.
Working Environment
This is a site-based security position requiring officers to remain professional, alert and vigilant throughout their shifts.
The role involves a mixture of day and night working, including weekends and Bank Holidays. This is a lone working site, you will be required to conduct regular internal and external patrols and respond to incidents at short notice.
The position includes a number of 12-hour shifts, as well as a 14-hour shift, so applicants should be comfortable working extended shifts and maintaining a high level of concentration and professionalism throughout their working hours.
A strong sense of responsibility, good judgement and a professional approach are therefore essential.
