Join a talented and ambitious global engineering consultancy specialising in the rapid engineering and development of sustainable electrified propulsion systems and associated technologies, working directly and collaboratively with automotive, commercial vehicle, off-highway, aerospace, defence, OEMs, Tier-1s and industry research bodies through our technical centres in North America, the U.K. and India.
What you’ll be doing
This is a project engineering role responsible for managing the integration of components and sub-systems into new vehicle applications. The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers to ensure all requirements are met, while supporting the seamless integration of these components into the wider powertrain and overall vehicle system ensuring robust design, delivery & validation. The role has a technical focus on transmission and driveline components.
Key responsibilities
· Create, update & maintain DFMEA, holding cross functional reviews and implementing new scoring based on application conditions.
· Generate DV and PV sign off tests. Update & support generation of component DVP, using actions from the DFMEA and lessons learnt to improve verification robustness.
· Define and maintain BoM and where required support with build containments for prototype parts.
· Generate, update & maintain requirements documentation, ensuring lessons learnt from previous programmes are captured. Use this documentation to define a clear component specification with partners and suppliers.
· Hold and chair regular cross-functional reviews to monitor and drive actions.
· Generate and maintain component level timing plans, with detailed actions for near-term gateways and a clear route through to production. Highlight risks to delivery and define mitigation plans to resolve.
· Generate key documentation including engineering sign off documentation and data packs to support programme gateways.
· Support design engineers with 2D/3D CAD generation and updates.
· Ensure robust engineering release, working cross functionally to release components in time and to the correct specification.
· Lead RCA taskforce to understand and resolve issues through the vehicle development process. Manage using the 8D process and follow through to resolution.
· Update senior IT management in Governance reviews as risks arise. Clearly communicating in a concise manner, the challenges at hand.
