Empire Services is a growing, independent engineering business providing commercial and industrial refrigeration services across the South West.
As our customer base continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Refrigeration Service Engineer based in or around Plymouth to strengthen our local engineering team.

The Role
You’ll primarily cover Plymouth, South Devon and the surrounding area, carrying out service, maintenance and repair work across a varied commercial refrigeration customer base.
The role includes reactive breakdowns, planned preventative maintenance and customer-facing work, with a strong focus on quality, fault-finding and providing a professional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment
- Fault-finding and diagnosing refrigeration system problems
- Reactive breakdown attendance and planned maintenance
- Working on hydrocarbon systems where required
- Completing clear and accurate job reports
- Completing F-Gas records and compliance documentation
- Carrying out site risk assessments and following safe systems of work
- Communicating clearly with customers and our service team
- Providing the information, photographs and equipment details required where further works or replacement equipment may be needed
- Participation in a well-managed on-call rota with appropriate support
What You'll NeedEssential
- Experience working within commercial and/or industrial refrigeration
- Current F-Gas qualification
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
- Good practical understanding of health & safety and risk assessment
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while being part of a wider engineering team
Desirable
- Hydrocarbon experience
- Manufacturer or OEM training
- CO₂ refrigeration experience

Hours & On-Call
This is a 40-hour-per-week position.
There is an on-call requirement as part of the role, but we believe this should be properly managed and discussed openly. The frequency and arrangements will be explained as part of the recruitment process.
