Flying Start Childcare Practitioner (Part-Time)
Location: Ty Plant Community Nursery – Briton Ferry, Neath
Hours: 12.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Additional Hours: Regular overtime opportunities available
Qualification: Minimum Level 2 NVQ (or equivalent) in Children's Care, Learning and Development / Early Years.

Ty Plant Community Nursery is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Flying Start Practitioner to join our friendly team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with young children in a nurturing, child-led environment, supporting their learning, development and wellbeing through high-quality early years practice.
About the Role
You will:
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging, play-based learning experiences.
- Build warm, positive relationships with children and their families.
- Create a safe, stimulating and welcoming environment.
- Work as part of a supportive and passionate team.
- Follow Flying Start, safeguarding and nursery policies and procedures.
- Contribute to observations, assessments and children's learning journeys where required.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum Level 2 NVQ (or equivalent) in Children's Care, Learning and Development / Early Years.
- Experience working with young children in a childcare or early years setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive, caring and proactive approach.
Desirable
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years.
- Experience working within a Flying Start setting.
- Knowledge of child development, the Curriculum for Wales and/or Montessori-inspired practice.
- Paediatric First Aid and safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake training).
