Theatre Bistro is a new venture near the Liberty stadium in Swansea.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our new dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional food experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a vibrant hospitality environment, supporting the head chef in daily kitchen operations and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety are maintained. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a background in food production, restaurant experience, and team management.
Duties
- Assist the head chef in preparing and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient workflow
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency, freshness, and presentation excellence
- Manage daily kitchen operations, including inventory control, stock rotation, and maintaining cleanliness standards
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery and customer satisfaction
- Participate in menu planning, development of new dishes, and special event preparations
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to guarantee optimal results
- Assist in managing labour schedules and delegating tasks effectively within the team
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen environment
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and culinary techniques
- Extensive kitchen experience with a focus on food safety standards
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Knowledge of hospitality operations and restaurant procedures
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and management
- Previous experience serving or working in a customer-facing role is advantageous
