We are a specialist building contractor delivering small works, repairs, maintenance and refurbishment projects across commercial properties, schools and healthcare facilities.
Working predominantly for a leading Facilities Management provider, we undertake a wide range of projects including building fabric repairs, refurbishment works, reactive maintenance and planned small works ranging from £500 to £50,000.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced freelance or part-time estimator to support our team with the preparation of quotations and cost estimates.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will work remotely, preparing quotations based on site surveys completed by our operational team.
Survey information, photographs, measurements and client scopes will be provided, and the estimator will be responsible for producing accurate labour and material costings for review prior to submission.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced estimator, quantity surveyor or construction professional seeking flexible part-time or freelance work.
Key Responsibilities
- Review client scopes, survey reports, photographs and measurements.
- Prepare detailed labour and material quotations for small works projects.
- Identify materials and subcontract requirements where necessary.
- Develop accurate labour hour allowances based on project scope.
- Request supplier quotations where required.
- Produce professional quotation summaries and supporting breakdowns.
- Maintain and develop pricing libraries and historical cost databases.
- Support commercial decision-making and margin reviews.
- Liaise with management regarding project risks and assumptions.

Essential Experience
- Previous estimating experience within construction, maintenance or facilities management.
- Good understanding of general building trades.
- Ability to price labour, materials and subcontract packages.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Competent with Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with FM providers.
- NHS, healthcare or education sector experience.
- Quantity Surveying background.
- Experience using estimating software.
- Knowledge of Schedule of Rates (SOR) pricing.
- Experience pricing reactive maintenance and small works projects.
Working Arrangement
- Freelance / self-employed basis.
- Flexible working hours.
- Expected workload approximately 10–20 quotations per week initially.
