Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Cook/Kitchen Hand to join our busy culinary team. This role involves assisting with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will support the kitchen operations, ensuring meals are prepared efficiently and to a high standard, while maintaining a clean and organised workspace.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with recipes and quality standards
- Support the cooking process by preparing ingredients and basic dishes under supervision
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces in compliance with food safety regulations
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients and leftovers to prevent contamination
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory checks to ensure freshness and availability of supplies
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold hygiene standards
- Support serving staff during busy periods, ensuring timely delivery of meals to customers
Skills
- Experience in food preparation and cooking within a commercial or hospitality setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Proven kitchen experience, ideally within a restaurant or catering environment
- Ability to assist with meal preparation efficiently under supervision
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in handling ingredients and equipment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of culinary techniques and food presentation skills is desirable
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities during service hours
