About the Role
We are looking for a Machine Minder to join our Packhouse team. This is a hands-on role supporting day-to-day production by ensuring machinery runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely. This role is
In addition to machine operation and basic maintenance, the role also includes general maintenance duties across the site.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern
- 10-hour shifts - 4 days per week
- Alternate Saturday nights
- Standard shift hours: 4:45pm – 3:45am
- Summer period shift pattern: Hours change to 1:00pm – 12:00 midnight. Typically runs from late July through October.
Key Responsibilities
Machinery & Production
- Working in the Packhouse to keep machinery and production running smoothly. (6 production lines)
- Identify faults, troubleshoot issues, and assist with problem-solving
- Support machine changeovers to minimise downtime
- Work closely with Line Leaders, Maintenance Engineers, and production teams
- Assist with the installation and setup of new equipment where required
Maintenance & Cleaning
- Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance
- Complete scheduled maintenance checks and accurately record findings
- Report machinery faults, damage, or safety concerns to management
- Assist with preventative maintenance to reduce machine breakdowns
General Site Maintenance (Key Requirement)
Carry out general maintenance tasks across the site
including:
- Basic repairs and upkeep
- Assist with ad-hoc maintenance tasks as required by the Maintenance Engineer or Management team
Hygiene, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain high hygiene standards in all work areas
- Ensure Health & Safety policies and company procedures are followed at all times
- Report any unsafe conditions or non-compliance immediately
Administration & Records
- Complete maintenance records, paperwork, and production documentation
- Keep accurate records of breakdowns, repairs, and machine spares
- Help manage machine spare parts and stock levels
Training & Support
- Assist with training line staff on machinery where required
- Support new projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working with machinery or in a production/manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
- Ability to carry out basic maintenance and general site upkeep tasks
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Good time management and ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to be flexible and carry out a variety of duties
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
