About Us
3FT Haulage Ltd is a growing transport company operating a fleet of HGV vehicles and trailers throughout the UK.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our team and take a leading role in the day-to-day management of our transport operation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating fleet operations, supporting drivers and planners, managing operational challenges and working closely with customers, workshop staff, compliance and company management.
This is a key position within the business and would suit an individual who is confident in making decisions, taking ownership of tasks and working in a fast-paced transport environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily transport planning activities
- Allocate vehicles and drivers efficiently while ensuring legal compliance
- Monitor live operations and resolve operational issues
- Support and guide planning activities across the business
- Liaise with customers regarding collections, deliveries and service requirements
- Work closely with Compliance and Workshop teams
- Ensure compliance with Drivers’ Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive requirements
- Maintain accurate transport and operational records
- Support fleet utilisation, cost control and service performance
- Identify opportunities for operational improvement
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Senior Transport Planner or Transport Planner within a haulage environment
- Strong knowledge of UK Drivers’ Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive requirements
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and make operational decisions independently
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport management systems
Desirable
- CPC qualification or transport-related training
- Experience within general haulage operations
- Knowledge of tachograph compliance and transport legislation
