Overview
We are seeking a skilled HGV trailer technician to join our dedicated team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicle trailers to ensure optimal safety and performance. The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, with experience in fabrication, welding, and equipment repair. Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and maintenance on trailer chassis, axles, braking systems, lighting, and electrical wiring
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to carry out repairs and modifications
- Solder electrical components and interpret schematics to troubleshoot wiring issues effectively
- Assemble new trailers or parts as required, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Repair or replace damaged components using appropriate mechanical skills and equipment
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience in trailer or vehicle repair with strong mechanical knowledge
- Electrical experience including wiring, soldering, schematics interpretation, and troubleshooting
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, assembly, and the use of hand tools and power tools
- Knowledge of heavy equipment such as excavators and forklifts is desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent customer service skills when liaising with clients or colleagues
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
