Job Purpose
The Training and Performance Manager will lead driver training, recruitment quality, competence management and operational performance improvement across the business.
The role will ensure drivers are trained, assessed and supported to meet standards for safety, compliance, punctuality, reliability, customer service and professional driving performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end training journey for trainee drivers, full licence holders and employees requiring refresher or remedial training.
- Review training school methodology and introduce alternative approaches.
- Ensure all training activity is planned, documented and delivered to the required standards.
- Monitor trainee progress.
- Ensure onboarding files are complete, compliant and ready for audit before drivers go live.
- Maintain a pool of relief trainers to cover demand peaks and absence.
- Assess mentor outputs to understand impact, consistency and value.
- Ensure the safety of the training team and recruits.
- Monitor training school results and reduce cost per trainee where achievable.

- hold Category D PCV licence and relevant professional driving experience.
- have Driver training, assessor, instructor, coaching or teaching qualification.
- have Driver CPC trainer experience or knowledge of approved Driver CPC course requirements.
- desirably have HR experience and be experienced in managing a team
- be Experience in passenger transport, bus, coach, logistics, training or operational performance.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Category D PCV licence and relevant professional driving experience.
- Driver training, assessor, instructor, coaching or teaching qualification.
- Driver CPC trainer experience or knowledge of approved Driver CPC course requirements.
- HR experience.
- Experience in passenger transport, bus, coach, logistics, training or operational performance.
Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
