Vehicle Rebuild Technician
Location: Portbury, Somerset
Shift: Monday-Friday, 07:30-15:30
Pay Rate: £20.37 per hour
Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm (Permanent opportunity for the right candidate)
We are currently recruiting for experienced Vehicle Rebuild Technicians to join a busy automotive workshop in Portbury. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Level 3 or Level 4 Vehicle Technician to undertake complex mechanical repairs, specialising in engine and gearbox replacement work across a range of vehicles.
We are looking for technicians with strong heavy mechanical experience who are confident carrying out major component replacements to manufacturer standards. Experience working on Renault vehicles would be advantageous but is not essential.
The Role:
As a Vehicle Rebuild Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out complete engine and gearbox removal and replacement.
- Undertaking major mechanical repairs on a range of vehicles.
- Removing and refitting engine ancillary components, including turbochargers, exhaust systems, intake manifolds, catalytic converters, air intake systems, and associated pipework.
- Replacing major engine components and assemblies in line with manufacturer procedures.
- Refilling and bleeding cooling systems following repairs.
- Recharging vehicle air conditioning systems where required.
- Checking and adjusting front axle geometry following mechanical repairs.
- Using diagnostic equipment to clear fault codes and verify repairs.
- Carrying out road tests to ensure repairs have been completed successfully.
- Completing all work in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop quality standards.
- Accurately completing job cards and repair documentation.
The Person:
- Recognised Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (certificates required).
- Previous experience carrying out heavy mechanical repairs, including engine and gearbox replacement.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Renault experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Own tools preferred.
- Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 6 points for minor offences.
