The role
An opportunity has arisen for a Despatch / Weighbridge Operative to join a busy and growing operations team.
Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will help coordinate customer orders, deliveries and transport movements. This varied role would suit a reliable and organised individual with excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
Key responsibilities
- Liaising with customers regarding delivery dates, times and site directions
- Receiving and processing customer orders for construction materials
- Working with the transport team to support the efficient use of vehicles
- Handling sales enquiries
- Responding to customer enquiries promptly and professionally
- Providing after-sales support
- Maintaining accurate order and delivery information
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the despatch and weighbridge function
Essential requirements
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above, or an equivalent qualification
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Competent computer skills
- Confidence handling and sourcing information
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A hardworking, reliable and professional approach
- Full driving licence and access to your own transport due to the site location
Desirable
- Previous experience or knowledge of the construction, quarrying, transport or materials industry
- Experience in despatch, weighbridge operations, order processing or customer service
