Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off (2 days, 2 nights, 7-7)
Pay: £18.85 per hour, averaged at 42 hours per week.
We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Shift Supervisor to join our Extrusion team at ProAmpac Elsham.
As Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of Machine Operatives and Senior Operatives, ensuring your designated shift runs safely, efficiently and to the required production and quality standards. You will play a key role in supporting your team, developing their skills and ensuring that production lines operate effectively to meet customer and business requirements.
Blown film extrusion experience and knowledge is essential for this role.
About the Role
As a Shift Supervisor, you will lead the operations of busy blown extrusion manufacturing environment. You will manage a shift of setters and machine operatives, ensuring they have the direction, training and support needed to carry out their roles safely and effectively. You will coordinate the day-to-day activities of the shift, allocate resources and priorities, monitor performance and respond to any issues that could affect safety, quality, production or efficiency.
This is a hands-on leadership role, and you will be expected to be visible on the shop floor, supporting your team and taking ownership of the overall performance of your shift.
Key Responsibilities
As Shift Supervisor, you will:
- Lead, supervise and support a team of Machine Operatives and Senior Operatives.
- Ensure the safe and efficient running of your designated shift and extrusion lines.
- Coordinate employees and production activities to ensure planned jobs are completed on time.
- Monitor production performance and work with the team to achieve required production targets.
- Ensure all employees follow site Health and Safety rules, procedures and safe working practices.
- Ensure product specifications, quality standards and traceability requirements are consistently met.
- Monitor and support the accurate completion of production and quality control documentation.
- Drive a strong focus on reducing waste and achieving scrap targets, ensuring scrap is accurately recorded, identified and segregated.
- Identify and escalate any issues affecting production, quality, scrap or Health and Safety.
- Ensure machine faults and defects are reported to the Maintenance department and followed through to completion.
- Provide clear communication and effective handovers between shifts.
- Complete daily shift reports and communicate key issues and priorities to the Operations Manager.
- Coordinate and support Senior Operatives to ensure the department operates efficiently.
- Provide training, coaching and ongoing support to new and existing Machine Operatives.
- Support the development and progression of employees through skills and competency levels.
- Ensure employees receive the support and guidance needed to become competent and confident in operating their designated production lines.
- Support with performance discussions, attendance matters and minor people issues in line with Company policies.
- Take ownership and responsibility for the site outside of normal office hours when required
About You
We are looking for someone who can lead by example and create a positive, productive and supportive working environment.
You will be comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment and will understand the importance of balancing safety, quality and productivity. You will be a strong communicator who can build effective working relationships with your team and other departments.
Ideally, you will have experience in a manufacturing, production or extrusion environment and previous experience of supervising or leading a team.
You will demonstrate:
- Previous blown film extrusion experience
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop
- A hands-on and proactive approach to problem solving.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage priorities and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
