About the Role
We are a successful, growing bespoke joinery manufacturer producing high-end kitchens, cabinetry, furniture and interiors for private clients, designers and interior professionals.
We are looking for an experienced CAD Technician / Joinery Draughtsperson to join our team and help take projects from approved design through to detailed fabrication and CNC production.
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys understanding how things are actually made, rather than simply producing drawings.
Our current workflow uses SolidWorks for 3D design and modelling, KeyShot for visualisation, and Woodwork for Inventor to produce detailed fabrication drawings and CNC manufacturing data.
The Role
You will work closely with our design and production teams to turn bespoke designs into accurate, practical and manufacturable joinery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings for bespoke joinery.
- Developing approved designs into practical construction details.
- Preparing components, assemblies and manufacturing information for production.
- Working within our SolidWorks → KeyShot → Woodwork for Inventor → CNC workflow.
- Producing and checking CNC-ready manufacturing data.
- Ensuring drawings are accurate, complete and suitable for workshop manufacture.
- Working with the workshop to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
- Checking designs for buildability, materials, tolerances, fixings and assembly.
- Helping to develop and improve our drawing standards and production processes.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with strong CAD skills and, ideally, experience in bespoke joinery, cabinetry, furniture or another precision manufacturing environment.
You should have:
- Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally SolidWorks.
- Experience producing detailed manufacturing/fabrication drawings.
- A good understanding of how furniture or joinery is constructed.
- An understanding of CNC manufacturing and the relationship between CAD and CNC production.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A methodical and organised approach to your work.
- The ability to interpret a design and work out how it can actually be manufactured.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with both designers and workshop staff.
Particularly Valuable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be highly advantageous:
- Woodwork for Inventor
- SolidWorks
- CNC manufacturing
- Bespoke joinery or cabinet making
- Furniture manufacturing
- AutoCAD or other professional CAD systems
- CNC programming / nesting / machining workflows
The Right Person
We're particularly interested in someone who has a practical manufacturing mindset.
You don't necessarily need to know every aspect of our existing software workflow from day one. More important is that you understand manufacturing, have strong CAD skills and are interested in producing work that is both technically accurate and genuinely buildable.
