Leap Pathways is looking for a passionate and dedicated Multi Sports Coach & Mentor to join our growing team.
The successful and versatile candidate will be responsible for running an engaging sports session followed by the delivery of individual one-to-one mentoring. You'll use sport as a way to engage, motivate and build positive relationships with young people and adults involved in the criminal justice system. Working with Youth Offending Teams and Integrated Offender Management (IOM) participants, you'll deliver alongside a variety of sporting activities, helping individuals develop confidence, resilience, healthy routines and aspirations for the future.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging one-to-one mentoring sessions with young people and adult offenders. Plan and deliver a range of sports and physical activities suited to individual needs and abilities. Build positive, professional relationships with participants to encourage sustained engagement. Develop strategies to support young people and adult offenders beyond programmes of intervention. Write detailed reports outlining programmes of work. Maintain up to date records, accurate case notes, session records and communication logs. Ensure all young people are safeguarded to the very highest of standards and in-line Leap Pathwayspolicies and expectations Effectively manage appointments, admin duties and attendance of those enrolled in the services. Work independently across various community locations. Liaise professionally with probation services, Youth Justice Teams and partner agencies. Support participants to achieve positive outcomes including improved wellbeing, education, employment and reduced offending.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about using sport to change lives. Confident working independently and managing their own workload. An excellent communicator with the ability to build trust and rapport. Calm, patient and resilient when working with challenging behaviours. Organised, reliable and able to complete administration accurately and on time. Flexible and willing to travel throughout Essex.
Essential Requirements
- Experience coaching sport or fitness qualification or delivering physical activity sessions.• Experience working with vulnerable young people or adults.• Strong mentoring and relationship-building skills.• Excellent organisational and administrative skills.• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.• Full UK Driving Licence.• Access to your own vehicle with business insurance.• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
- Level 1Coaching Qualification/fitness (or equivalent).• Safeguarding qualification.• First Aid qualification.• Experience working within Youth Justice, Probation, Integrated Offender Management or similar services.• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches or behaviour management.
