Practice Nurse (GP Surgery)
Hours: 28 hours per week (including 0.30mins lunch break)
Working Days: Monday, Tuesday and Friday (essential and non-negotiable)

We are a successful, patient-focused GP Partnership and Lead Practice serving approximately 8,000 patients. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Practice Nurse with previous GP surgery experience to join our friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team.

The Role
As a Practice Nurse, you will work as part of the Primary Healthcare Team, providing high-quality nursing care and preventative healthcare services to our registered patient population.
You will be responsible for delivering evidence-based nursing care while working within your professional scope of practice and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Cervical Cytology Screening
- NHS Health Checks and Health Promotion
- New Patient Health Assessments and Urinalysis
- ECG Recording and Interpretation
- Venepuncture
- Chronic Disease Management Clinics, including:
- Diabetes
- Respiratory Conditions (Asthma/COPD)
- Cardiovascular Disease
- Routine and Childhood Immunisations
- Contraception Services
- Chaperoning and assisting clinicians during examinations where required
- Requesting appropriate pathology investigations, including urine cultures and swabs
- Following clinical protocols and referring patients appropriately to GPs or senior clinicians
- Home visits where required
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
- Monitoring Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets and patient recalls
- Ordering and maintaining clinical stock and vaccine supplies
- Cleaning and sterilising clinical equipment
- Participating in practice meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
- Undertaking additional duties appropriate to the role
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Registered Nurse with current UK professional registration
- Minimum 2 years post-registration nursing experience
- Minimum 6 months' experience working within a GP Surgery or Primary Care setting
- Experience managing long-term conditions
- Experience in immunisations and cervical cytology
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Good IT and record-keeping skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Driving Licence
Desirable Criteria
- Experience using SystmOne clinical software
- Additional Primary Care qualifications
- Experience participating in QOF delivery and clinical audits
