Job Title: Nursery Cook
Salary: £12.71 per hour
Role Overview
Nursery cook - Monday to Friday 9.00AM to 5.00PM (all year round). We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will prepare nutritious and balanced meals and snacks for children, taking into account dietary requirements, allergies, and preferences, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks, including morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and tea.
- Make food considering allergies, dietary requirements, and children’s preferences.
- Cut, peel, and wash food.
- Prepare plates/cutlery for all rooms at mealtimes.
Food Hygiene & Safety
- Follow food hygiene and safety regulations at all times.
- Food is stored at correct temperatures and is checked to ensure it is in-date and not subject to contamination.
- Wear uniform and appropriate food preparation clothing.
Cleaning & Kitchen Maintenance
- Wash and maintain kitchen equipment.
- Put away dishes and tidy the kitchen.
- Clean the kitchen daily to maintain a hygienic environment including cleaning floors and countertops.
- Put bins out in the external bin area.
- Collect all dirty dishes from rooms, wash, and put them away.
- Put away food received from shopping.
Records & Organization
- Keep records of food temperatures, stock, and other relevant food logs.
- Create weekly shopping lists and provide them to the manager by Thursday morning.
Transportation & Meal Collection
- To transport the meals to the various rooms within the nursery.
- To collect all used equipment from the rooms after meals have been finished.
Requirements:
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (essential).
- Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for young children.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
