Summary
We is an established, specialist contractor with more than 40 years’ experience in structural waterproofing, basement systems, damp and timber treatment, and the restoration of listed and heritage buildings across London and the South East. The business operates as a group of complementary trading companies under the holding company, delivering surveying, remedial and construction services to residential and commercial clients.
The Group is entering an ambitious phase of growth and professionalisation. We are strengthening the finance function accordingly, and this newly created Financial Controller role is central to that plan, taking day-to-day ownership of finance across the Group and building the robust, well-controlled reporting that underpins value.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Own the month-end close across all Group entities, delivering accurate management accounts to a consistent, timely reporting calendar.
- Maintain the balance sheet integrity of every entity, including full reconciliation of all control accounts, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
- Develop and continuously improve KPI reporting, dashboards and board-pack content.
Financial control & compliance
- Design, implement and maintain a robust financial control environment, documenting policies and procedures across the Group.
- Manage year-end processes and act as the primary point of contact for external accountants and auditors, preparing audit/accounts files and supporting the transaction/due-diligence process.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations, including VAT returns, CIS (Construction Industry Scheme), Companies House and HMRC filings.
- Safeguard Group assets through strong controls over banking, expenditure authorisation and supplier payments.
Cash, treasury & working capital
- Own cash management and short- and medium-term cash-flow forecasting across all entities.
- Drive working capital performance — overseeing credit control, debtor days, work-in-progress and supplier terms.
- Manage banking relationships and day-to-day treasury activity.
Budgeting, forecasting & business partnering
- Lead the annual budgeting process and maintain rolling forecasts for each company and the consolidated Group.
- Partner with operational and project managers to improve costing, margin analysis and commercial decision-making.
- Provide the CFO with analysis to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions and the exit process.
Systems, processes & team leadership
- Own the integrity, configuration and effective use of the Group’s finance and job-management systems.
