CNC Miller – Fanuc Setter/Operator

We are recruiting an experienced CNC Miller for an established precision engineering manufacturer based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham.
This is a permanent day-shift position for a skilled CNC Setter/Operator with experience using Fanuc controls. Programming from scratch is not required, but candidates must be able to understand and follow existing CNC programmes and make appropriate offsets or minor adjustments.
The role primarily involves machining carbon-steel components, with a smaller amount of Inconel work, within a quality-led precision manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Set and operate CNC milling machines using Fanuc controls
- Follow and understand existing CNC programmes
- Machine predominantly carbon-steel components
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Select and load tooling and establish work offsets
- Monitor machining cycles and maintain dimensional accuracy
- Make permitted offsets or minor programme adjustments
- Complete first-off and in-process dimensional inspection
- Use micrometers, verniers and other manual measuring equipment
- Identify tooling wear, dimensional drift and process issues
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping
The successful candidate will have:
- Recent CNC milling and setting experience
- Practical experience using Fanuc controls
- The ability to understand and follow CNC programmes
- Experience reading engineering drawings
- Confidence working to specified tolerances
- Manual inspection experience
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience producing small-batch, high-value components for the oil and gas, subsea, aerospace or another regulated engineering sector would be advantageous.
Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am–4:00pm
- Friday: Minimum four hours from 7:00am
- 39-hour standard working week
- Flexibility to work additional hours Monday to Thursday and finish earlier on Friday
Pay and benefits:
- £16.72, £17.43 or £18.78 per hour, depending on experience and capability
- Overtime above 39 hours paid at 1.3 times the standard rate
- Saturday overtime paid at 1.5 times the standard rate
- Monthly profit-sharing bonus after the qualifying period
