We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Carpenter Improver to join our Trades Team on a permanent basis to help maintain and improve our residents’ homes at Eastlight. Full training will be provided, including working alongside an experienced Carpenter to develop your skills and knowledge. Upon successful completion of the training programme, your salary will increase to the full-time equivalent (FTE) salary.
What You’ll Do
Carry out maintenance and repair work in residential properties.
Complete a variety of carpentry-related tasks, including:
Hanging doors
Plastering repairs
Tank stands, bath panels, and frames
Floorboard repairs
Boxing in pipework
Fascia soffit and guttering
Applying sealants
You’ll also ensure that residents’ homes are safe, well-maintained, and continuously improved, while promoting a positive company image through high-quality workmanship, effective time management.
In your day-to-day work, you will operate safely, professionally, and courteously, fully complying with Health & Safety legislation, policies, and procedures. You’ll remain mindful of residents’ individual circumstances, reporting any safeguarding concerns through the appropriate channels, and treating customers and their homes with respect and care. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, you’ll share ideas for service improvement, uphold Equality and Diversity principles, and conduct yourself in a way that builds trust and confidence with residents, colleagues, and the wider public.
- £32,253.30 pa (increasing to £35,837 after completion of training)
- 37 hours per week Permanent contract
- Power tools provided + £75 annually towards your hand tools
- Company van & mileage provided
- 30 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays
- Group stakeholder pension plan (Eastlight will double, up to 5% of the employee’s contribution - Employee 5% + Eastlight 10% = Total 15%)

- Trailblazing family leave (Maternity, Paternity and Adoption – 12 weeks full pay / 6 weeks half pay) – Subject to eligibility
