We are actively seeking a Project Planner to join the company to be responsible for the creation & management of Construction & Commissioning programmes
Responsibilities
Programme Development & Planning
- Produce programmes, from first principles, ensuring that all key design, procurement and construction activities are captured, and logic linked to identify the critical path
- Ability to produce detailed programmes and options quickly as required by clients, including design, procurement, manufacturing/lead-in, installation and commissioning activities
- Review tender/construction drawings, specifications and bills to gain full comprehension of project scope and constraints in order to develop a coherent installation sequence
- Prepare Information Required and Procurement schedules from the programme
- Develop project specific method statements and logistics plans to support tender bids and site operations
Programme Monitoring, Reporting & Analysis
- Collate, validate and accurately measure project progress against programme dates, reporting to Senior Management
- Monitor any changes and assess the impact on the agreed programmes, including assessment of variations/compensation events and advise on delay entitlement
- Carry out “what-if” scenarios to forecast potential issues during the project
- Where applicable, carry out delay analysis and prepare reports to assist with EOT applications
- Maintain full change log records and revision control for all programmes, as per Planning Process
Site & Project Coordination
- Regular visits to site to review progress with the team, identifying delays, risks and critical path impacts
- Work closely with the Site Team to manage all programme and planning activities on allocated projects
- Prepare short-term programmes and carry out project specific exercises such as re-programming and resource allocation
- Suggest programme recovery actions or betterment opportunities
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Explain programme logic to project teams/departments, highlighting assumptions, methodology, plant, equipment, resources and constraints
- Develop relationships with internal teams, consultants and clients
- Review and challenge main contractor/sub-contractor programmes
- Undertake any other duties as required by management
Qualifications
Essential
- Professional Qualifications: HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role planning within construction and/or MEP projects
- Experience of tender stage planning and/or onsite planning within a developer/contracting organisation
- Excellent knowledge of the construction process from feasibility to handover
- Proven understanding of the full project cycle and associated constraints
- Excellent IT skills with essential knowledge of Asta PowerProject
Desirable
- Experience of planning or managing MEP installations
- Knowledge of infrastructure, installation and commissioning sequences of M&E services
- Experience working on residential building projects through all lifecycle stages
- Experience in delay analysis and EOT processes
- Knowledge of other planning software (e.g. MS Project, Primavera P6)
Abilities & Skills
- Methodical, imaginative, and analytical thinker, with practical construction experience combined with sound knowledge of planning, programming and control processes
- Proficient in communication (both written and verbal)
- Organised and structured approach to your work.
- Ability to work within an environment with deadlines while having to multi-task with multiple priorities
