Mountview Retreat Residential Home provides residential care and support for 9 adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs, and physical disabilities. We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Night Support Worker to join our team in a lone-working position.
This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, responsible, and confident working independently while ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and comfort of residents throughout the night.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide overnight care and support to residents, responding to individual needs during the night.
- Conduct regular nightly welfare checks to ensure residents’ safety and wellbeing.
- Maintain a calm, safe, and supportive environment throughout the night shift.
- Carry out fire safety checks and follow emergency procedures where required.
- Monitor the home’s security and ensure all health and safety procedures are followed.
- Administer and record morning medication and PRN where requited, in line with policies and procedures.
- Prepare and serve breakfast for residents.
- Complete cleaning, laundry, and light housekeeping duties as required.
- Maintain accurate records, incident reports, and handover documentation.
- Work independently while remaining professional, organised, and responsive to residents’ needs.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working within a residential care or support setting.
- Understanding of supporting adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs, and physical disabilities.
- Confidence working alone and making decisions independently.
- Knowledge of fire safety procedures and health & safety responsibilities.
- Competent in medication administration or willing to complete training.
- Strong communication, observation, and organisational skills.
- Reliable, calm, and able to respond appropriately in emergencies.
Desirable
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care.
- Previous night duty or lone-working experience.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and person-centred care.
