We are looking for a very experienced and highly professional Childcare and Play Work Practitioner to work at a Senior Level , who MUST be qualified to at least Level 3 in Play Work and Level 4 or above in CCDLP, to take the role of Person in Charge and to lead and manage our small, homely and really friendly Out of School Academy setting ,which caters for up to 38 children, aged 4 to 12 years, before and after school and during all school holidays.
You must be passionate about working with children and share the same core values and beliefs as Toadhall Montessori Nurseries and Out of School Academy.
Working as the Person in Charge ,you will be responsible for effectively and efficiently, leading and managing a small team of dedicated staff and be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Out of School Academy setting ensuring all Policies and Procedures are professionally implemented and embedded in practice .
Our main aim is to put the child at the centre of all we do and to nurture and support every individual, to have a safe, secure and amazing fun filled time, before and after school and during all school holidays, which in turn will enable them 'to be the best they can be'.
Location: Llandaff North, Cardiff CF14 2FA
Hours: 8am - 6pm, 4 days/38 hours a week Monday to Friday (one day off a week)
Starting Salary: We offer a highly competitive salary of £16.50 per hour (£32,604 gross per annum) for the first 6 months ,increasing to £17.50 (£34,580 gross per annum) after successfully completing your 6-month probationary period
Contract: 12-month Temporary Contract in the first instance, after which it will be made permanent after successful completion of your 6-month probationary period and 6-month induction.
We are looking for a Person in Charge/Senior Early Years Practitioner/Senior Play Leader who is :-
- Hardworking, dedicated, compassionate ,empathetic and able to act as a positive role model to others
- Is highly motivated and can work creatively, confidently and competently ,as the Person in Charge with staff ,parents ,children and all other external agencies to keep everyone safe and secure, thus enabling them ‘to be the best they can be’
- Has high expectations and aspirations of themselves, others and most importantly the children in their care
- Has excellent Leadership and Management knowledge, skills and firsthand experience ,to lead and manage all aspects of the day to day running of the Out of School Academy setting
- Is committed to developing a strong, professional team of staff who are passionate about creating the best outcomes for every child
- Have a good understanding of the role and responsibilities of working confidently and competently ,as a Senior Play Leader and embedding the Play Work Principles into practice
- Has excellent knowledge and understanding of the Care Inspectorate for Wales 4 Registration and Inspection Themes, along with the 24 Minimum Care Standards
- Is confident and competent in CIW inspections and can both maintain and enhance ‘CIW ratings’
- Has undertaken current Safeguarding Group B and C training
- Is adventurous and enjoys the outdoors both within the Out of School environment and further afield
- Has a genuine love and joy about teaching and learning in the Outdoors and has applied this to working with children
- Has gained or is willing to undertake Level 3 Forest School Leader training
- Understands the Montessori Approach to teaching and learning and be willing to develop their knowledge, experience and skills in this pedagogy
- Has good knowledge and understanding of the Curriculum for Wales and the and is willing to develop this pedagogy within the organisation
- Able to create an exciting holistic. ‘In the moment', programme of activities based upon the child's interests, to develop 'awe and wonder' for every child, within an engaging and accessible indoor and outdoor environment
- Have excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
- Have excellent IT skills
ESSENTIAL TO THIS ROLE - Car Driver with a clean driving licence with minimum of 4 years driving experience
As an employee at Toadhall Montessori Nurseries and Out of School Academy, you will undertake your role, by experiencing high-quality, first-hand experiences within a highly qualified, experienced and supportive leadership team of Senior Early Years Practitioners.
You will also undertake our in-house Leadership and Management programme, along with personalised mentoring and support ,to develop your role as Out of School Academy Person in Charge/Leader and Senior Playworker
You will have the opportunity to develop your career further by undertaking additional in-house and external Continuous Professional Development training.
