Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our Children's Home team. As a Support Worker at Harmony Manor, you will play a vital role in supporting the welfare, safety and development of the young people in our care. Working alongside a dedicated team, you will help create a positive, caring and consistent environment where every child can thrive emotionally, socially and educationally.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include supporting young people with their daily routines, education, emotional wellbeing and personal development, while encouraging positive behaviour and independence. You will work closely with the Home Manager, Senior Support Workers, social workers and other professionals to ensure each young person's individual care plan is delivered effectively.
For one of our current placements, we are particularly keen to hear from candidates who speak Tagalog, as the young person may benefit from support from someone who shares their language and cultural background. However, this is a preference only and is not an essential requirement. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and supervision to children and young people in line with their individual care plans.
- Support children and young people to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.
- Assist with daily routines, including education, meal preparation, appointments, recreational activities and personal care where required.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and stability.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing and structured home environment.
- Record daily logs, incidents and observations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, social workers and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
- Attend team meetings, supervision sessions and mandatory training.
- Respond to behaviours of concern using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people at all times, ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality policies.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A caring, patient and reliable approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Available for day and night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a children's residential home or a similar care setting.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards the qualification.
- Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and trauma-informed practice.
- Ability to speak Tagalog (preferred but not essential).
- Full UK driving licence.
Pay: £13.00 per hour
