Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Rope Access Roofer to join our specialist height-works team. In this vital role, you will execute high-level roof repairs, waterproofing, cladding, and preventative maintenance on complex residential, commercial, and industrial structures where traditional scaffolding is impractical.
Utilizing certified industrial rope access techniques alongside core roofing trade skills, your expertise will ensure the safety, structural integrity, and weatherproofing of our clients’ properties at height.
(Current IRATA Level 1, 2, or 3 certification is preferred; however, for the right candidate, full IRATA Rope Access training will be provided and funded).
Key Responsibilities & Scope
- Abseil & High-Level Works: Perform complex roofing repairs, leadwork, liquid waterproofing, and gutter maintenance via IRATA rope access systems.
- Safety & Compliance: Rig ropes, conduct daily equipment inspections, and strictly adhere to IRATA standards, RAMS, and site safety protocols.
- Site Inspections: Carry out high-level roof surveys, defect inspections, and photographic reporting for hard-to-reach building envelope areas.
- Team Execution: Work seamlessly alongside Level 3 Safety Supervisors and ground support teams to ensure efficient, safe project completion.
- Surface Prep & Repairs: Prepare roofs by removing old materials, repairing damaged substrates using masonry or carpentry skills, and ensuring proper surface preparation.
- System Installation: Install and repair various roofing systems, including liquid-applied membranes, single-ply, metal cladding, and slate/tiling.
Working Expectations & Travel
- Travel: Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (overnight allowance, accommodation, and travel provided).
- Physical Demands: Requires strong physical stamina for heavy lifting, working at heights, and working outdoors in all seasonal conditions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Proven hands-on experience in commercial or residential roofing installation and repair.
- Rope Access: Current IRATA Level 1, 2, or 3 certification preferred OR a strong trade background with the willingness to complete an IRATA course.
- Trade Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools; familiarity with lead welding, torch-on, or liquid systems is highly advantageous.
- Technical Ability: Ability to read and interpret roofing schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Safety First: Strong knowledge of working-at-height safety regulations, fall protection measures, and site safety protocols.
- License: Full UK driving license preferred.
