About the role
Office Athletes deliver a comprehensive physical wellbeing programme on behalf of Arm, one of the world’s leading technology companies. The role is based at Arm’s Cambridge headquarters, operating from a purpose-built strength & conditioning gym, studio, and assessment rooms on a state-of-the-art tech campus.
As part of the continued development and growth of the programme, we are looking to appoint a high-potential Strength & Conditioning / Wellbeing Coach to join an established, multidisciplinary team. This is a varied role with a strong emphasis on coaching, alongside opportunities to contribute across a wider corporate physical wellbeing programme.
This role suits someone with strong academic and professional foundations, a genuine interest in people, and the mindset to grow and develop within a structured, supportive team environment.
What you’ll be doing
Your work will primarily involve:
- Delivering high-quality strength & conditioning coaching and personal training
- Coaching individuals across a broad spectrum, from beginners to experienced exercisers
- Leading and supporting group-based sessions in the gym and studio
- Working closely with our on-site Physiotherapist to support musculoskeletal health
- Supporting wider wellbeing delivery, including health assessments, desk assessments, campaigns, initiatives, events, blog writing, lunch & learns, and other presentations
- Building strong rapport with Arm employees to drive engagement and long-term behaviour change
- Managing your own diary, session notes, and basic administrative tasks
- From time to time, supporting planned wellbeing delivery at other Arm sites across the UK and Ireland (including Manchester, Sheffield, Bristol, and Galway). These are short trips, typically delivered alongside another coach and scheduled well in advance
You’ll be supported to develop skills outside your current experience where appropriate.
Who this role is for
We’re particularly interested in candidates who:
- Have excellent qualifications and a solid technical base
- Are early to mid-career and keen to be developed
- Are open, curious, and coachable
- Enjoy working with a wide range of people
- Want to build a long-term career in coaching and corporate wellbeing
- Value being part of a high-trust, high-performing team
We are less focused on years of experience and more interested in potential, judgement, and attitude.
What our coaches say about the role
Coaches in our team often talk about:
- The variety in their week and the opportunity to work with a wide range of people
- Being trusted to coach properly, rather than rushing from session to session
- Developing skills beyond the gym floor, including wellbeing, education, and collaboration
- Working in a supportive team with high standards and shared values
- Realising that corporate wellbeing offers a more rewarding and sustainable career than they initially expected
This role sits within a defined salary and progression framework and is best suited to candidates who are comfortable entering at the advertised level and developing within that structure over time.
Essential qualifications and skills
- A relevant degree (minimum 2:1), for example Strength & Conditioning, Sport & Exercise Science, Sports Therapy, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related discipline
- Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification
- Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification (REPs or CIMSPA recognised)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence coaching a wide range of people
- Good organisation and basic IT skills (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, booking systems)
- A genuine interest in health, wellbeing, and long-term behaviour change
Desirable (but not essential)
- UKSCA accreditation (or working towards)
- CIMSPA membership
- Sports Therapy or Sports Massage background
- Experience supporting or delivering basic physiological or health assessments (e.g. blood pressure, body composition, screening or fitness testing)
- Additional studio or group exercise qualifications
- Nutrition-related qualifications

- First Aid at Work qualification
If you don’t tick every box but feel this role fits where you want to go, we’d still love to hear from you.
Development, progression, and benefits
We invest heavily in our people. As part of the team, you’ll benefit from:
- A clear development pathway, with support to grow as a coach, wellbeing practitioner, and professional over time
- Regular mentoring, support, and CPD
- Active support for membership and accreditation with professional bodies such as CIMSPA, RSPH, and UKSCA
- Opportunities to progress within the role over time
Benefits include:
- Starting salary of £28,000, rising to £29,000 after probation
- Performance-related progression over time
- Enhanced annual leave, with additional days accrued with length of service
- Company pension, with contributions enhanced in line with service and performance
- Free on-site gym access and fitness classes
- On-site parking and subsidised food options
- Employee wellbeing benefits and mentoring
Who this role is not for
This role may not be the right fit if you’re looking for:
- A short-term role while waiting for an alternative opportunity
- A position focused purely on athletic performance or competition
- A role where there is little interest in contributing beyond delivering scheduled sessions
- A role to fit around building or prioritising your own separate business or self-employed work
We’re looking for people who take pride in their work, are proactive, and want to contribute to a high-quality service within their role, rather than simply deliver the basics.
Final note
Many people come into this role expecting it to be very different from traditional sport or gym environments. In practice, many of our coaches discover that corporate wellbeing offers meaningful work, professional standards, and long-term career opportunities they hadn’t previously considered.
If you’re open-minded, people-focused, and interested in developing as a coach in a modern wellbeing setting, this could be a great fit.
