Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Transport Planner / Controller to join our logistics team. In this vital role, you will coordinate and oversee transportation operations to ensure the smooth, efficient, and timely movement of goods from multiple customers. Duties
- Develop and implement transportation plans using transportation management systems (TMS) to optimise delivery routes and schedules.
- Monitor shipment progress in real-time, proactively resolving delays or issues to maintain delivery deadlines.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to ensure compliance with service levels and contractual agreements.
- Manage shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accurate data entry.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, warehouse teams, and internal stakeholders via phone etiquette and professional correspondence.
- Analyse transportation data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or cost-saving opportunities, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain detailed records of shipments, freight movements, and related documentation in logistics systems.
Skills
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS)
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, including shipping & receiving procedures.
- Experience working with 3PL providers and managing third-party logistics relationships.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret data for route optimisation and operational improvements.
- Effective communication skills for clear coordination with carriers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Attention to detail in data entry tasks and maintaining accurate shipping records.
- Knowledge of logistics best practices combined with strong organisational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while demonstrating professionalism through phone etiquette and typing accuracy.
