About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Streetworks / Permit Coordinator to join our growing team.
We deliver a high volume of works across the telecommunications, utilities and highways sectors and are looking for someone who already has a good understanding of streetworks and permitting who can take responsibility for coordinating permits across our operations.
This is not simply an administrative position. We are looking for someone who can manage the permitting process proactively, identify potential issues before works commence and work closely with our operational teams to ensure works can be delivered legally, efficiently and on programme.
Previous experience within streetworks, utilities, telecommunications, highways or a similar environment is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of streetworks permits and notices, including:
- Managing permit and noticing requirements for planned and reactive works.
- Submitting new permit applications accurately and within required timescales.
- Managing permit variations, extensions, cancellations and amendments.
- Monitoring permit applications and dealing with rejected, refused or queried permits.
- Ensuring permits are in place and correct before works commence.
- Monitoring permit conditions and ensuring these are communicated to the relevant operational teams.
- Liaising with local authorities, highways teams and other stakeholders regarding permits and streetworks.
- Coordinating with our Project Managers, Supervisors, Traffic Management and operational teams.
- Identifying potential clashes, restrictions or permitting issues that could affect planned works.
- Monitoring permit start and end dates and ensuring necessary actions are completed within the required timescales.
- Ensuring works are correctly opened, updated and closed on the relevant systems.
- Managing notices and registrations associated with completed works where required.
- Keeping accurate records of permits, notices and correspondence.
- Monitoring upcoming workloads to ensure permits are submitted with sufficient notice.
- Helping minimise permit breaches, Fixed Penalty Notices and unnecessary charges.
- Assisting with investigations into permit-related issues, defects or non-compliance.
- Maintaining good communication with operational teams to ensure changes on site are reflected correctly within the permitting process.
What We're Looking For
We would ideally like someone who already has experience working within a streetworks or permitting environment.
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous experience as a Permit Coordinator, Streetworks Coordinator, NRSWA Coordinator, Noticing Coordinator, Streetworks Administrator or similar.
- A good understanding of streetworks permitting and noticing processes.
- Knowledge of NRSWA, the Traffic Management Act and permit schemes.
- Experience working within utilities, telecommunications, highways, traffic management or civil engineering would be advantageous.
- Experience dealing with local authorities and highways teams.
- The ability to manage a high volume of permits and changing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
- Confidence communicating with supervisors, managers, clients and external authorities.
- Good IT skills and the ability to work across multiple systems.
- Experience with Street Manager and/or streetworks management systems would be advantageous.
Openreach/telecommunications experience would be beneficial but is not essential. We are more interested in finding someone who already understands streetworks and permitting and can quickly learn our specific contracts and processes.
The Person
We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of their workload.
You'll need to be able to look beyond simply submitting permits. We want someone who can identify when something doesn't look right, raise issues before they affect the jobs and work with the operational team to find solutions.
You should be comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change quickly and where planned and reactive works are taking place simultaneously.
What We Offer
- £28,000–£32,000 salary, depending on experience.
- Permanent, full-time position.
- Opportunity to take ownership of the permitting function within a growing business.
- Exposure to telecommunications, highways, civils and traffic management operations.
- Opportunity to develop your knowledge and progress as the business continues to grow.
- Support from experienced operational and management teams.
Working Hours
