We are looking for a talented individual to work alongside the Technical Administrator, Senior Theatre Technician and Theatre Technician to provide professional technical services to clients requiring Stage Management, Sound and Theatre Lighting services at South Mill Arts.
This role is primarily, but not exclusively, to support the Senior Theatre Technician and Theatre Technician with the build and show operation for the 2026/7 Pantomime – Beauty and the Beast.
Contract length: 6 weeks
Contract start date: Monday 2nd November 2026
Contract end date: Sunday 20th December 2026
15 hours per week (rota’d over a 6-week period), as required and agreed with the Technical
Administrator/Senior Theatre Technician. Hours will include weekends, evenings, and bank
holidays.
Primary Duties:
- Work with the Senior Theatre Technician and Theatre Technician on Panto ‘Get-in’ day
- Work with the Senior Theatre Technician and Theatre Technician during the production fortnight as required
- Operate sound, light and video for school shows as required (N.B. all shows are ‘solo op’)
- Operate sound, light and video for public shows as required (N.B. all shows are ‘solo op’)
- Operate sound, light and video for other events within South Mill Arts’ programme of events within the contract as required
Additional Duties:
- Assist with the operation of the cinema programme as required
- To liaise with relevant FOH Duty Management on occasions when we have performances/events.
- Work with visiting companies or artists in order that all events run to schedule.
- To act as tech onstage as required
- Carry out any other duties set by the Technical
- Administrator/Senior Theatre Technician that may from
- time to time be required.
- Health and Safety:
- Advise and brief visiting hirers on health and safety procedures including fire
- evacuation procedure.
- Work with the Technical Administrator/Senior Theatre Technician on ensuring all
- H&S Documentation is complete for all hiring or touring productions.
- Maintenance:
- Advising Senior Theatre Technician of any defects in equipment that need rectifying.
- Experience Required:
- Prior experience within a Panto environment is essential.
- Prior experience of working within the Technical Industry (Events, Productions or
- Concert)
- Prior experience of working with clients/hirers in a professional or community
- capacity
- Tertiary Technical training required, but not essential.
- Prior Lighting or Sound Design work required but not essential.
- Basic Technical maintenance skills required.
- Prior experience of Cinema equipment required, but not essential.
