We’re growing as a business and developing our team for the next stage, so we’re looking for an experienced Head Barista/ Supervisor who is looking for a permanent, long-term position and the opportunity to grow with us.
About the Role
The role combines great coffee with team leadership and the wider day-to-day running of the shop. You’ll lead shifts, work closely with the management team, support and train our baristas, and help us continue developing our coffee offering and service.
As Pulp grows, we’d like this role to grow too. We’re looking for someone who wants to bring their own experience and ideas to the team, take on meaningful responsibility, and become an important part of the business long term.
What You’ll Do
Coffee & Service
- Prepare consistently high-quality espresso-based drinks
- Dial in espresso and adjust grinders throughout the day when required
- Maintain strong standards of milk texture, presentation and consistency
- Work efficiently during busy periods without compromising quality
- Deliver warm, confident and efficient customer service
- Resolve customer issues calmly and professionally
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead shifts and take responsibility for the team during service
- Delegate tasks and ensure daily responsibilities are completed
- Train and support baristas and new team members
- Give clear, constructive feedback when standards are not being met
- Lead by example and maintain a professional, positive working environment
- Keep the team organised and productive during both busy and quieter periods
Day-to-Day Operations
- Support opening and closing procedures
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and food hygiene
- Support stock control and help minimise unnecessary waste
- Ensure equipment is used correctly, cleaned and properly maintained
- Identify problems and take ownership of resolving them where possible
- Support management with improving systems, standards and day-to-day operations
What We're Looking For
This is not an entry-level barista position. We're specifically looking for someone who already has substantial professional barista experience and has previously held responsibility for leading a team.
Required:
- Minimum 3 years’ professional barista experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a Supervisor, Shift Leader, Head Barista or similar leadership position
- Strong espresso knowledge and confidence dialling in and adjusting grinders independently
- Excellent milk steaming and coffee preparation skills
- Experience training, supporting and giving feedback to other team members
- Experience leading busy shifts independently
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive approach and the confidence to make decisions when needed
- Reliable and consistent availability
- Weekend availability
- Right to work in the UK
