About the Role

At AOM Investment and Asset Advisory, we provide investment analysis, portfolio advisory, project finance and asset management services to institutional and commercial clients.
We are looking for an Investment Risk Manager who can take ownership of investment risk oversight, portfolio monitoring and risk governance across our investment activities. You will work closely with investment analysts, portfolio managers, finance teams and senior stakeholders to identify, assess and manage investment risks while supporting informed business decisions.
This role is suited to an experienced investment risk professional who can combine analytical expertise with commercial awareness and strong stakeholder management. You will help strengthen the firm's risk framework, ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements and contribute to sustainable portfolio performance. Investment Risk Managers typically oversee portfolio risk, governance, stress testing, reporting and regulatory compliance while providing independent challenge to investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Investment Risk Oversight: Monitor investment portfolios and identify market, credit, liquidity, operational and concentration risks.
- Risk Framework Management: Develop and maintain investment risk policies, procedures and governance frameworks that support effective decision making.
- Portfolio Analysis: Review portfolio exposures, diversification, asset allocation and investment performance against approved risk limits.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and recommend practical mitigation strategies for emerging investment risks.
- Stress Testing: Perform scenario analysis and stress testing to evaluate portfolio resilience under different market conditions.
- Risk Reporting: Prepare investment risk reports, dashboards and presentations for senior management and governance committees.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure investment activities comply with internal policies, regulatory obligations and applicable financial standards.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with portfolio managers, investment teams, finance and compliance functions to support risk informed investment decisions.
- Model Review: Support the validation and continuous improvement of investment risk models, methodologies and analytical tools.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate risk events, policy breaches and investment exceptions while coordinating appropriate corrective actions.
- Performance Monitoring: Track key risk indicators, portfolio trends and investment exposures to support proactive risk management.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve reporting processes and enhance overall investment governance.
- Team Support: Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior analysts and contribute to the development of the investment risk function.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: At least 6 years of experience in investment risk management, asset management, portfolio analysis or financial services, including management responsibility.
- Education: Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Business or a related discipline.
- Investment Knowledge: Strong understanding of portfolio construction, financial markets, investment products and risk measurement techniques.
- Risk Management Expertise: Practical experience with investment risk frameworks, stress testing, scenario analysis and portfolio monitoring.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex financial data, identify emerging risks and provide practical recommendations.
- Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of investment governance, regulatory compliance and industry best practices.
- Leadership: Ability to lead projects, influence stakeholders and support multidisciplinary investment teams.
- Communication: Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
- Technology Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modelling tools, portfolio management systems and risk reporting platforms.
- Organisation: Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and confidential information in a fast paced environment.
- Professional Qualification: Progress towards or completion of CFA, FRM, PRM or another recognised investment or risk management qualification is an advantage.
Pay: £55,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
