Kennel Assistant - at least Level 3 qualification in Animal Care AND 1 year demonstrated experience in a dog boarding kennels. Full time permanent role - 4 days on 2 days off rota over 7 days a week.
Job Description
To engage in the care of dogs, cats & other pets in the boarding & rescue centre kennels.
Ensuring that the required feeding regimes for the different animals are met.
This care will include feeding, checking of water, checking general condition of animal, completion of checklists and updating information boards in the preparation kitchen.
To ensure dog kennels, other animal enclosures and exercise areas are effectively cleaned and any identified issues reported at the end of any stay and prepared for the next occupant.
To help with grooming, giving medication and reception duties when required.
To be confident in dealing with dogs that may show reactive tendencies and demonstrate competence in reading dog behaviour.
To deal with customers in a friendly and professional manner, this may include via telephone.
To keep the working environment clean & tidy, this will include cleaning of staff areas, storage sheds & other site areas.
Must be willing to work alone and in the team, communication skills are important and willingness to ask questions.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate recent experience in a licensed boarding kennels environment (as per role above). Professional references will be requested and followed up prior to any offer being confirmed.
